Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains which kind of personal data is being processed on www.multi-translator.com (the “Website”) and for which reasons. This Privacy Policy applies whenever you visit the Website or when you interact with the Website, for example by sending an email to the email address associated with the Website or by using the feedback form.
Controller: Sabine Staggl, see the Impressum for address and contact details.
Collection of Data
Correspondence: If you correspond with us by email, through the feedback form or any other online or offline means, you may provide certain personal data. This may include your email address, any feedback or any other information you choose to provide.
Text you translate: The text you enter and the languages you choose are sent to our server to be translated. The text is not stored by us. Please don't enter sensitive personal data, such as health information.
Analytics: only if you say yes to usage statistics, basic analytics information is collected: the page address, the referring page, your browser's language setting and how the Website is used (for example which languages are chosen). TelemetryDeck uses your IP address and browser information to derive an approximate country, the browser and device type, and a visitor ID that changes daily (a one-way hash), and does not store your IP address. The text you translate is never included. We only see aggregated statistics in TelemetryDeck and cannot identify you from them, and they are not combined with data from other sources.
Use of Data
To deliver the Website and keep it secure: see Hosting and server logs below.
To communicate with you should there be any correspondence or support request. Data used: correspondence. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, which allows processing personal data for legitimate interests; here: answering your message.
To translate your text. Data used: the text you translate. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, which allows processing personal data to provide a service you request.
To analyze, evaluate and understand the use of the Website in order to improve the Website and develop new features, products or services or to be able to discover bugs. This includes analysing aggregate usage data or receiving your feedback. Data used: correspondence and analytics. Legal basis: for analytics, your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR); for correspondence, Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR (legitimate interests; here: improving the Website).
To meet legal requirements: any information requested may be shared if required to do so by a lawful request by public authorities or to meet any other legal requirements. Legal basis: Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR, which allows processing personal data when it’s necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
Hosting and server logs
The Website and its email are hosted by a provider based in the EU. When you open a page, the server receives and logs your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser's user agent. The logs are deleted automatically after about a week. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in delivering the Website and keeping it secure (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
Sharing of Data
Our hosting provider (see Hosting and server logs) processes data on our behalf.
Only if you say yes to usage statistics, we use TelemetryDeck (a web analytics service operated by TelemetryDeck GmbH, based in Germany). See the TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy: https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/ and, for how the analytics data is handled, the TelemetryDeck Privacy FAQ: https://telemetrydeck.com/docs/guides/privacy-faq/
To translate your text, our server sends it to Groq (operated by Groq, Inc.). Your IP address is not passed on. See the Groq Privacy Policy: https://groq.com/privacy-policy/
Storage in your browser
Your two privacy choices ("yes" or "no" for saving in your browser, and for usage statistics) are saved in your browser's local storage, so you are not asked again on every visit; this is strictly necessary to respect your choice (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). Only if you say yes to saving in your browser, based on your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR), your chosen languages and your last 10 translations are saved there too, so the Website keeps them on your next visit. They are never sent to us or anyone else. "Clear all" deletes the history, and saying no deletes both. If you close the privacy choices window with × without answering, every unanswered question counts as "no" for this visit, nothing is saved for it, and you will be asked again on your next visit. You can change either choice at any time with "Change privacy choice" at the bottom of the main page.
Security of Data
Data is encrypted in transit using industry standard Transport Layer Security (TLS). Please note that, while protection and security measures are taken, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is ever completely secure and error-free.
Retention of Data
Any personal information is retained for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, specifically:
Text you translate: not stored by us.
Server logs: deleted automatically after about a week.
Storage in your browser: kept until you click "Clear all", say no to saving in your browser, or clear your browser's data.
Usage statistics: kept by TelemetryDeck as described in its privacy policy.
Feedback: messages and email addresses are kept as long as they are useful for following up and improving the Website, and deleted on request at any time.
Transfer of Data
Data, including personal data, may be transferred to – and maintained on – computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. Please consider that some service providers may be located outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). Groq, Inc. is located in the United States and may process data in other countries where its subprocessors operate; transfers to Groq are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Article 46 of the GDPR). They are part of Groq's Data Processing Addendum: https://console.groq.com/docs/legal/customer-data-processing-addendum
Is providing data required?
Apart from the technical data your browser sends when loading a page (see Hosting and server logs), you are not required to provide any personal data. Only the text you want translated is needed to translate it, and an email address only if you want a reply to your feedback. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling (Article 22 of the GDPR).
Exercising your rights
Under the GDPR, and depending on the circumstances, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data: Right to access; Right to correct; Right to erase; Right to restrict our use of your information; Right to data portability; Right to object; Withdrawal of Consent. The rights are not absolute, and it is encouraged that you deepen your understanding by studying the GDPR, or any other relevant or equivalent regulation.
Right to object: where we process data based on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR), you can object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation.
Withdrawal of Consent: you can withdraw your consent at any time with "Change privacy choice" at the bottom of the main page. This does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
Right to lodge a complaint: you have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in the country where you live.
Children’s Privacy
The Website is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly process personal data of children under 16. If you discover that a child under 16 has provided us with his/her personal data, please contact us.
